St Elizabeth & John the Baptist by Walter Ernest Tower

Antique church stained glass window, c1915, leaded with hand painted stained glass depicting Elizabeth with her infant son, John the Baptist, around is a decorative foliage background and border, below is a memorial dedication.  windows have decorative backgrounds and borders. In excellent original condition and in mahogany frame of a later date.

Frame Measure: 39½” high x 14¼” wide – 100.5cm h x 36.5cm w
Glass Measures: 36½” high x 12¼” wide –  93cm h x 31cm w

Walter Ernest Tower studied at the Royal Academy and was a pupil of his uncle Charles Emer Kempe in London where he lived and worked. He was also an architect and made many stained glass windows in Great Britain and elsewhere.

On Charles Kempe’s death in 1907 the firm was reformed as C. E Kempe & Co. Ltd and Walter Ernest Tower (1873–1955), was appointed Chairman. Tower thenceforth used a black tower above the golden garb.
